Oklahoma Tax Free Weekend is scheduled for August 7-9 this year. The State of Oklahoma is offering one tax free weekend event during 2015. It applies to clothing and shoes and is intended to coincide with back-to-school shopping, when many parents stock up on clothing and shoes for the kids.
The Farm is bringing back an old tradition, the Sidewalk Sale! Imagine outdoor shopping with over 40 shops and restaurants. Get a bite to eat, explore the sales and see what’s new at The Farm, which is situated in the center of Tulsa at 51st Street and Sheridan.
Smart Shopping Tips:
- Compare prices at several different stores and use coupons when possible.
- Be careful not to overspend just because it’s a tax free weekend. The regular sales tax rate in Oklahoma is 4.5%, so that’s how much money you’d be saving, along with your local sales tax.
- What items are exempt from the tax free weekend? Articles of clothing or footwear designed to be worn and the sales price of the article is less than one hundred dollars ($100). Example of those items would be:
Aprons, household and shop
Baby receiving blankets
Belts and suspenders
Coats and jackets
Gloves and mittens for general use
Hats and caps
Insoles for shoes
Steel toed shoes
Uniforms, athletic and non-athletic
Accessories including athletic apparel and gear, handbags, jewelry, luggage, umbrellas, wallets, and watches are taxable.
