Thanksgiving Meals in Tulsa OK All Week
What started years ago as a holiday meal for the homeless, the John 3:16 Mission has now grown into a full week of Thanksgiving meals in Tulsa OK. The meals start today, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 and will be served daily through Sunday, November 29, 2015. This will provide Thanksgiving meals in Tulsa OK for over 2,000 homeless and hungry in and around the area.
Reverend Steve Whitaker, president and CEO of the John 3:16 Mission has a love for the Thanksgiving holiday. He was reported to say that he envisions a big table overflowing with food so he can eat himself into a stupor. He also wants to share that vision with those less fortunate so they can have a sense of fulfillment during the holidays. The reverend now dedicates his entire Thanksgiving Day feeding the homeless and hungry. His only reward is seeing the happy faces of those he was able to feed.
The food preparation takes the food staff and manager over 60 hours to prepare and cook the meals. They cook over 2,000 pounds of turkey, 1,000 pounds of stuffing and 320 pounds of sweet potatoes along with various other thanksgiving meals in Tulsa OK.
The John 3:16 Mission is only one of the many area organizations that will be providing Thanksgiving meals in Tulsa OK this year. The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope will serve over 1,000 guest on Thanksgiving Day. They will have 150 turkeys, tons of pies and plenty of cranberry sauce.
