A Little History About Keystone Lake
The name Keystone came from the city’s “key” location to the Arkansas and Cimarron Rivers. A small post office community gave Keystone Lake its name. Established in 1934, Camp Arbuckle was one of three outposts in the area created to protect the Leavenworth Established in 1934. Daniel Boone’s son took his troop through the area and US Marshall Nix once chased outlaws in the caves and hills of the Keystone Lake area too. 1968 brought electrical energy to the area after the flood control dam was ready and the area became a popular place for fishing, recreation and living.
