The Closet – It Can Sell a Home
You may think that something as insignificant and unassuming as a closet would make a difference in the selling power in your home, but it has more power than you know. Homes need storage for
anything from food, clothing, and cleaning supplies. The closet is one of the most important rooms in the home.
So, to get your closets in selling order, you should tackle cleaning out the clutter to determine what the real use of each particular closet. We all like to hold on to things that no longer have a need, but may be used in the future, so you may have a lot of stuff in your closets.
You should ask yourself, when was the last time I used this item and when will I use it next. If it’s been a year or more since you have last used it, you may not use it in the future. You can pass on items you are not using to someone else through a yard sale or a donation. Over packed closets can make a potential buyer keep looking for their ideal home.
Once you have the clutter out of the way you can get organized. Even if you use a cheap fix to do the organizing, it can make a huge difference. Begin organizing your closet by color blocking your clothes, grouping like items together, and putting smaller items into storage totes or labeled boxes. You can store out of season items in another location such as the attic or garage. You should be able to see the floor of your closet; therefore, a rack for shoes will make the floor look nice and neat.
You can organize the pantry by using the same principles as the bedroom closet. Remove unnecessary items, use totes for small and miscellaneous items, and group like items together. All closets need shelving and racks. There is lot of choices for every budget available. Simple and inexpensive shelving can be configured in a myriad of patterns and can be installed with a simple screwdriver. If you can afford it, custom built units will wow your potential buyers and put your home first on their list.
Walk in closets are a huge selling point, so be sure to maximize the potential in this space. Your local building supply store will have everything you’ll need for the specific ideas you have in mind and for your individual needs. Their customer service agents should be able to answer any questions you may have or help you to improve on your ideas.
For maximum selling power, allow buyers to see the true size and functionality of the space and be inspired by your organization.
The Tulsa State Fair Has Arrived
The Tulsa State Fair is the biggest event of the fall season. Although it is in full swing now, the fair will be here until October 9th. This fair attracts close to a million visitors every year with thousands of festival goers a day. When you come to Oklahoma’s premier event, you will have the chance to enjoy all the carnival rides, midway games, attractions and free concerts. There is even a creative art display and much more to entertain your family and your friends.
Since 1935, the Tulsa State Fair has blossomed to include all types of entertainment happening on three stages. You’ll get to enjoy awesome stunts in BMX bike shows, adorable pets in annual dog shows, educational displays like the sea lion exhibits and the skilled lumberjack shows. One of the biggest attractions at the event is the PRCA Rodeo where you can watch in awe as cowboys and cowgirls compete in action packed events such as barrel racing, team roping and of course everyone’s favorite – bull riding.
The Tulsa Fair Grounds is also playing host to numerous kitchen demonstrations and a tremendous amount of vendor booths. The kids can see this year’s Disney on Ice show. Just watch their eyes light up with amazement as the Disney characters twist and turn on the ice like magic as they glide along to the tunes of classic and contemporary Disney songs.
There will also be a petting zoo to entertain the kids along with the activity centers and creative stations. Also for the little ones they have contests like cookie stacking and pie eating. So, bring your family and friends to Tulsa and enjoy the state fair. Kids will love a ride on the teacups, kiddie train and the merry go round while adults can enjoy more extreme rides like flying high on the Himalaya, Mega Drop, Gravitron or Tulsa’s hottest rollercoaster – the Comet II.

Tulsa’s Food for Kids Program Receives Champions of Health Award
Good news travels fast in Tulsa and the most recent good news is about Tulsa’s “Food for Kids” program getting the “Champions of Health” award. On October 25th at 6 p.m. in the Tulsa Convention Center Ballroom, the Food for Kids backpack program will be presented with the highest honor of being the recipient of the Dr. Rodney Huey Memorial “Champions of Oklahoma Health” award.
Along with the award they will receive a grant of $15,000 at the Gala. The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma’s Food for Kids Backpack program distributes food to elementary school-aged children who are at risk of going hungry over the weekend when school meals are not available. According to the food bank, more than 26% of children in Oklahoma are living at or below poverty level. Because of this crisis, the food bank started the “Backpack Program” to help those most in need.
Other winners will be awarded in six categories including the Uninsured, iCare, Children’s Health, Dentist’s for the Disabled and Elderly, Corporate Health and Senior Health. To attend the Gala, you can purchase tickets for $100 from now until October 14th by contacting the Gala coordinators at 866-876-4376. The gala benefits the “Oklahoma Caring Foundation”. They also provide Tulsa children with free immunizations.

Make a Buyer Bite with These Home Features
When it comes to selling your home, you have to stand out from the rest of the crowd. It’s important to do a little extra to your home; however, you don’t have to go overboard either. These home features will have buyers biting at your home sale in no time.
Fantastic Fixtures
Replacing door knobs, cabinet handles and faucets, is the quickest way to make-over your kitchen and bathrooms. For around $60 to $70 dollars you can buy the most popular faucets that get a lot of attention from prospective buyers. Fixtures are like the crown jewels of your home and this is a quick and easy way to grab your buyer.
Striking Baths
If you don’t have the luxury items such a whirlpool bath, steam shower or marble countertops, it may be more practical to fix the unattractive aspects of your existing bath. Remove the sheet mirror and globe lights and replace them with an elegant framed mirror and sconce lighting. This definitely will be an eye catcher.
Gorgeous Countertops
Buyers do like the granite counter tops; but it’s not really about the granite. It’s really about the slab and not having grout lines on the counters. Slab counter tops that are non porous like granite and that are easy to care for is the way to go. This look can be attainable with concrete, limestone, soapstone and marble, with a very good sealant.
Stunning Hardwood Floors
Most buyers are looking for hardwood floors and most Realtors® will agree. And, best of all, you can bet that they will have longevity and will never go out of style. Synthetic wood floors like Pergo are also a good option, but you should know that laminate will not fool anyone. They make a hollow sound when you walk on them.
Awesome Entryway
First impressions go a long way. If you have a nice entry way, it makes your place feel more like home right away. If you don’t have one you can make one by adding a table or chest to create a welcoming area.
